When stroke strikes, part of your brain shuts down. And so does a part of you. Life changes instantly and recovery is tough. But the brain can adapt. Our specialist support, research and campaigning are only possible with the courage and determination of the stroke community.

Story

I am a brain injury survivor and have set myself the challenge of doing all the things I have wanted to do but have previously told myself I am unable to do for one reason or another. I am currently engaged in a career break to pursue my philosophy of stopping making excuses and making things happen instead. So far this has led me to represent England, complete a wilderness trek, cycle coast to coast and much more! Attempting a world record is one of my aspirations and is my latest challenge. Through my website www.didiever.co.uk I am trying to share this philosophy with the world and raise awareness of the impact that brain injuries can have (psychological as well as physical).

I'll be attempting the record at Kip Keino Stadium in Bristol on 31st October 2015, raising money for the Stroke Association along the way. This facility has been generously donated to us for the record attempt.

The stroke association work to change the world for people affected by stroke. They believe that stroke can and should be prevented, and that research can help achieve the aim. They support stroke survivors and their families.
